Hi all,
the discussion about multilingual for dexterity seems to have ended without a usable product or even a roadmap. The last discussion was http://plone.293351.n2.nabble.com/Plone-next-generation-multilingual-tt6913247.html. The last commit to the packages (plone.multilingual, plone.app.multilingual, plone.multilingualbehavior and archetypes.multilingual) were in December. We're currently working on a big project with dexterity-ct's and behaviors with A LOT of fields, many of which should be language-independent. Before we tell our customer that we were incredibly stupid in our guess that this will be in a usable state by march we'd like to ask if there is a plan™ and what it says. We'd love to work on that too (after PloneKonf because we are pretty busy organizing) but we don't know if everyone is on board with using plone.multiplingual Philip -- Philip Bauer Starzel.de ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keep Your Developer Skills Current with LearnDevNow! Hi all.. (Plone 4.4, downloaded recently from the official site) I created a new policy and tried to apply it to a folder, and I got this: Traceback (innermost last):

There is no Plone 4.4 and your posting has nothing to do with the subject here.

It's ok :) The best thing at this point is to reopen the bug and add as many details as you can. Don't forget the Plone version and all that identification info.

Hey everybody,
We are using P.A.M. on some production sites (small sites) and is working fine with AT and Dexterity. Nowadays there is no language independent field and translation UI implementation, is a hard problem you are welcome to help implementing. It's an evolution of the one that is beiing used at HU Berlin. * plone.multilingual : the core works fine, the objects are referenced using plone.uuid * archetypes.multilingual : there is no LP magic (factory, language independent field) on it, but it allows to create translated AT wherever you want * plone.multilingualbehavior : there is no factory and language independent field magic, but it allows to create a translated dexterity type wherever you want * plone.app.multilingual : installer ok, control panel to configure multiple languages ok, creation of root language folders and a layout to redirect the home page to the correct language folder ( as in LP ) ok. Needs the translation UI Sorry for the delay but we are delivering to big projects! By the way Philip, I'll be going to the Plone Konf in 2 weeks, and then work at Syslab's office in Munich for the whole of March. As you know Syslab works with large multilingual sites, so I'm sure they'll also be interested in helping out. For the Plone Konf, I was planning to continue sprinting on jarn.xmpp/babble.chat integration, but perhaps we can organise a time for sprinting on P.A.M, either the sprint-weekend after the Konf or later in March? Dear everyone,
My department is going to sponsor Ramon to do a small amount of work on P.A.M., probably focusing on language independent fields. As it happens, I should be able to be in Europe in the last two weeks of March. If Ramon is available to spend two or three days working intensively on p.a.m during that time perhaps we could get together?
