SimpleBlog issue: Portlets not showing entries on some pages

I'm a newbie plone user struggling with the last part of my site....

I installed SimpleBlog according to Danny's instructions and things
looked good to go, but once I published a  BlogEntry the portlets
didn't work correctly.

Here is what I did:

Before I created a blog I added to the right_slots list in the root
site properties the BlogRecent portlet
(here/portlet_simpleblog/macros/portletBlogRecent_global).  I then
created and published a Blog. All of the pages outside of the Blog
displayed the BlogRecent portlet (empty as expected) and the Blog page
displayed the BlogFull portlet
(here/portlet_simpleblog/macros/portletBlogFell_global). So far so
good.

I then created a BlogEntry and published it. Immediately the
BlogFull_local portlet didn't show up anymore on the Blog pages. The
BlogRecent_global portlet correctly shows the blog entry on my Home
page and other pages at the root level ... but everywhere else the
portlet shows "No blog entries are published."

So now with a published entry here is how things are:
-BlogRecent portlet on my home page or any other page at the root level
shows the published entry.
-That same portlet says "No blog entries are published" on the pages in
any other non-blog folder
-WIthin the blog the BlogFull portlet (portletBlogFull_local) now
doesn't show up at all (it showed when there wasn't any published
entries)

I've spent several hours trying to figure out why this happening and
I'm really stumped. As I said, I'm very new to Plone so perhaps there
is something I am overlooking. Any help would be most gratefully
appreciated! This is the last thing that is keeping me from publishing
my site.

My plone instance is a vanilla setup:
  Plone 2.1.1,
Zope (Zope 2.7.8-final, python 2.3.5, darwin),
  Python 2.3.5 (#1, Oct 13 2005, 12:02:13) [GCC 3.3 20030304 (Apple
Computer, Inc. build 1666)]

Products installed:
    ATContentTypes   1.0.1-final
        ATReferenceBrowserWidget 1.1
        Archetypes 1.3.5-final
        CMFActionIcons CMF-1.5.4
        CMFCalendar CMF-1.5.4
        CMFFormController 1.0.6
        GroupUserFolder 3.4
        MimetypesRegistry 1.3.7-final01
        PortalTransforms 1.3.8-final02
        ResourceRegistries 1.0.5
        SimpleBlog 1.2.1
        kupu 1.3.1

Re: SimpleBlog issue: Portlets not showing entries on some pages

Same problem here, I suspect SimpleBlog is still not 2.1 compliant. Danny
talked about working on it but I don't know what's his planning though. I
liked SimpleBlog as it did exactly what I needed, not more, not less.
